‘Agents are in a vulnerable position in relation to their principals and, accordingly, stand in need of protection. The Commercial Agents (Council Directive) Regulations 1993 has gone some way towards providing agents with an appropriate level of protection, but much more remains to be done.’

Critically evaluate this statement and, in particular, consider the contribution made by the Commercial Agents (Council Directive) Regulations to the protection of an agent.
