The proposal should accomplish several goals:
Topic:
What will be the impact of rising sea levels, extreme weather events, shifting precipitation patterns and temperature variability over the next 25-50 years on the New York City Coastline?
1. Identify an unresolved scientific question, relevant to global environmental change science and to policy.
2. Describe the scientific background in sufficient detail to motivate the proposed research question, and show command of the subject and methods, and familiarity with recent relevant research.
3. Propose in detail a strategy to address this question (your method: experiments, observations, modeling, etc.).
4. Discuss the broader implications of the proposed research with respect to environmental policy (how will your answers be used?)
