Thank you so much and don’t hesitate to ask me any question you might have. Here are the 5 questions:
- What is your dilemma / problem/ethical issue?
- Brief over view of issue (for example, how long your issue has been an issue and why people can not agree on it)?
- Your position on the issue (which side do u you agree with and why)? What do you think should be done about it?
- At least 1 reason for your position?
- Possible counter argument and your refutation?
Assignment #3
Write a thesis-driven essay that argues in favor of a particular attitude toward and/or solution to the ethical dilemma on which you are focusing. You will need to explain the dilemma, drawing on your sources to examine, with sufficient complexity, whatever social and technical information your audience needs to understand it. But because this is an argument-driven essay, you will also need to take a stand by articulating either what attitude should be taken toward this issue and/or how and by whom it ought to be addressed. For example, if you are writing a paper about the influence of pharmaceutical companies on physicians, you should assert whether or not the problem needs to be addressed, how, and who is responsible for doing so (pharmaceutical companies? Physicians themselves? Professional organizations such as the American Medical Association?)
If the problem is too new, insufficiently investigated, or otherwise not developed enough to allow you to suggest specific methods for addressing it, then your task changes. In that case, your essay will first explain the problem, and then discuss a) the limits of our current knowledge about the issue, and b) pinpoint aspects of the problem that, in your view, require further exploration. Note that you will still be expected to make an argument: in this case, you might argue that the issue needs to be taken more seriously and suggest specific ways to accomplish that goal.
Your final draft must be at leasteight pages in length.
